In this sequel to Catskill Murder Mystery, Amy and Mark team up again to investigate the death of a man they once held dear. At first, the death appears to be accidental, but when Amy and Mark discover that they knew the man as two different men with two different names, his death starts to look more like murder. Their investigation leads them down a rabbit hole to the mind-blowing truth about the man they thought they knew and the impact he had on both of their lives.

At the same time, the partnership that Amy and Mark have built over time is put to the test. The more they learn about their dead mystery man and what he meant to each of them, the less they trust one another. Yet, they must find a way to use each other's expertise in criminology and psychology to work out the puzzle that has turned both of their lives upside down and bring it to a logical conclusion without blowing up their own personal relationship. In the process, they make discoveries they never thought possible about the man and themselves.
